Game Development: Where to start!

Getting started with game development?

Wondering where to start?
Just take a look at our post once

First Thing: Choose a game engine

There are a lot of game engines out there, like Unity 3D. UDK, CryEngine etc.
But which one is best for you? As you are a beginner, you can start with game engine like Unity or Game Maker: Studio. What is the difference between them? Simple, Game Maker is for making 2D games but with unity you can do both 2D and 3D. Game Maker dont need any programming knowledge. Unity needs C# or Javascript knowledge. Unity is more flexible. You can make games much faster with Game maker. You can develop games for major platforms with both the engines.
Finally Unity is completely free. And Game Maker: Studio is not completely free.
Both of the engines got their pros and cons. But learning Unity is easy cause it got tons of tutorials.

Learn Things:

Now you need to learn how to make games with that engine. You can always find tutorials in youtube and in many other third party websites. Nothing is easy, hardwork is the key to success. No matter how much time it takes dont give up in the middle. Learn all basics, start with simple games. Soon you will be a pro. But it will take time and effort.

What about graphics?

You can make your own graphics, or you can buy them on stores. If you want you can learn making them. You need to learn pixel art or vector art for 2D games, for 3D games you need to learn modelling. For 2D you can use Gimp, Illustrator, CorelDraw and for 3D use Blender, 3DS Max, cinema 4D.

Make a game plan:

Now its time to make a game plan. Play your favorite games. Try to make your game unique and fun. Take as much time as you want, but you must make the best. Your first game may not be the best, but it isnt your last game. Explore more, make new. All you have to do is, never give up.

Publish your game:

Next step is to publish your game. You can publish your game on Steam greenlight, Windows 8.1, iOS, Android or Windows Phone. Let your game explore the world. Before publishing your game as your friends to play your game. Take their opinion. Polish your game. Then release it.
